Volunteers

OUR VOLUNTEERS ARE THE HEART OF OUR HOUSE.

The Ronald McDonald House is supported by a strong foundation of volunteers. Their gifts of love and compassion make this House more than just a place to stay, they make it a home. Volunteers make a difference in the lives of all the families that come through our doors.

The steps to volunteer are simple:

  • Submit the Volunteer Interest form, below. You must be 16 years or older.
  • Schedule an Interview & Tour of our House.
  • Complete our Volunteer Application & Background Check.
  • Attend a brief orientation & start volunteering!

Vaccination against COVID-19 is strongly suggested. Masks are optional while visiting RMHC Central Valley.

For any other questions about volunteering please reach out to Melvis, Volunteer Services & Meal Planning Coordinator at melvis@rmhccv.org

Happy Wheels is a hospitality cart which provides families at Valley Children’s Hospital with a moment of joy while staying bedside with their child.  The cart is filled with snacks, toys, coloring books, crayons, and other treats, which volunteers share with parents & siblings of the patients.  This position requires volunteers to complete the on-boarding process for both RMHC and Valley Children’s Hospital, which can take as long as three months.  A minimum commitment of six months is required.  See a photo of the Happy Wheels cart here.

Light Housekeeping/Maintenance (individual or small group)

Are you a neat-freak or just enjoy cleaning?  Help keep our House in sparkling condition!  We are always looking for individuals or small groups to help clean windows, wipe down tables & chairs, sweep, vacuum, and clean our three kitchens.  We also welcome those with special skills like electricians and plumbers to help with maintenance tasks.

Are you a licensed hairdresser or massage therapist?  Our families often forget about their own needs during their child’s hospitalization.  Offering our families fresh hairs cut or chair massages is a wonderful way to help them feel and look good!

Volunteer at any of our special fundraising events throughout the year. Our events are a fun way to support the House, both as an individual or as part of a team.

This is a fantastic way for a family, friends, community or corporate group to give back and bond at the same time!  You can sign-up to host a breakfast, lunch, or dinner any day of the year.  To sign-up or find out more information visit the Meals From The Heart page.  For this program, volunteers can be as young as 8 years old with adult supervision.

Are you the super creative type or have experience planning events?  Put your skills to use and join one of our fundraising committees!  We have several annual events and are always looking for energetic and creative people to help make our events successful.
